The committee meets every three months to review the list of individuals unable to attend our church services and to receive updates regarding our interactions with these friends. Susan Stites initiated this outreach initiative several years ago, and it has since been reinvigorated as a crucial community effort. This committed group of individuals gathers every Tuesday at 1:00 pm in the church library. They come together to offer prayers for members of our church and the broader community. Cards are sent to convey our heartfelt prayers. This serves as a meaningful demonstration of our love for others in the spirit of Christ.
Cards of encouragement and support for the Fannin teachers are sent once a month. Risa Marx organizes this mission. Participants can drop their completed cards in the blue plaid box just outside the church office.
This garden has existed for over 15 years. The vegetables are placed in a stand for passersby to take as needed. Currently, Oscar Galvan plans and orchestrated the care of the garden. The garden is located on W. 4th Ave. Help is always needed, so if gardening is your pasion, please ask for more information through the church office.
Operation Christmas Child is a collaborative effort between Samaritan's Purse and First Methodist Church. Our primary objective is to furnish children worldwide with shoeboxes brimming with small toys, essential hygiene items, and school supplies. This initiative commenced at FMC in 2019 and has rapidly expanded, increasing from 25 boxes to nearly 500 within a short span of time. This endeavor grants us the chance to share God's message globally and bring joy to countless children. The dedicated organizer for this mission is Joy Dill.
