Come See Us!
First Methodist Church is a vibrant community of Methodists that desire to make Sunday morning a time of passionate worship and a place for all people to feel welcome as we seek to know Christ more and his will for our lives as his disciples.
Have questions about our church? You're not alone! You might ask...
What are your worship services like?
Whether it is through the music, prayer or preaching, God's word is at the center of all of our gatherings. Each service includes a time of prayer, preaching and giving. The sermons are built on God’s Word, not the pastor's ideas, and aim at transforming our lives to be more like Jesus Christ.
We have three amazing Sunday morning worship opportunities for you to consider attending. Our first traditional-style worship service begins at 8:30AM in our historic sanctuary. You will not want to miss the sound of the beautiful pipe organ and piano as they are played expertly by our renowned musicians and the voices of our choir raised in praise to God. But don't worry! If you miss the early service, you can always make the 10:50AM traditional-style service in the same place. If you like contemporary worship, then our service, The Current, at 11:00AM is just for you. The Current meets in the Great Hall in our modern worship space and is led by an amazing worship team that truly desires to worship God through their musical gifts.
Where should I park?
We have parking lot near the church and designated spots, near the front sliding door, for folks that may have mobility issues.
Where should I go when I enter the building?
We have greeters located at the doors who would be happy to help you find where you need to go. Or one of our friendly church members can easily point you in the right direction. If you are attending the traditional service, you may use the front entrance under the archway off of 3rd St. The entrance for the contemporary service is the sliding doors under the portico.
Do you provide childcare?
Clean, well-staffed nurseries for infants and toddlers are provided during all church services. We also have children's church that kids up to age 7 are invited to attend each week after the children's message is completed in the worship service.
What should I wear?
We are more concerned about you and your presence with us than we are with what you wear. As a church, we gather to worship the Lord and want to dress in a way that honors God. Most of our members wear something in the range of business formal to business casual, but you will always see folks wearing blue jeans, t-shirts, or whatever they feel comfortable in.
